An Artrageous FridayPosted: April 24, 2013
Last Friday is an example of a time when the place you live surprises you. Not a bad surprise, but a good artsy one. I went to “Artrageous Fridays“.
And let me tell you the art crawl did justice to it’s name. There was art, wine, music, magicians, food and did I mention wine? As one artist put it “It is a friday where once a month the art community of Columbia (Missouri) opens up its arms and saids welcome”.
Ditto. I started off the night at Artlandish Gallery.
Here is a short clip to give you an idea of the vibe in Artlandish.
The high-light of the night is when I met the artist of a painting my friend gave me for my birthday, Andrea Youngman.
I then made my way to Perlow-Stevens Gallery (aka:PS Gallery):
The best part of PS Gallery, was getting to see art from artist who are not local. It was a nice mix of national, regional and local artists, not just one or the other. The space was also very open and spacious, a great place to see art.
Next stop on the map was Poppy, where I got to hang out with the featured artist, Susan Wood:
She was there demo-ing her work and showing us how its done.
I would say that the best part of “Artrageous Fridays,” is meeting all of the local artists, like Susan Wood and getting to talk to them about their art.
